In 2003, Hajiya Halima Garba set out to build more than just a business—she wanted to celebrate African culture and uplift her community. As a proud Fulani woman from Katsina State, Nigeria, she founded HM & S Global Investment Limited with a deep commitment to craftsmanship and economic empowerment. Now based in Kaduna State, she thrives as an entrepreneur, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, proving that resilience, family support, and cultural pride fuel success.

Overcoming Early Challenges
Starting with limited resources, Hajiya Halima faced tough obstacles. Minimal capital and a small team made growth difficult, but she stayed focused, drawing strength from her Fulani roots. Her husband’s unwavering support, including financial assistance, played a crucial role in launching HM & S Global Investment Limited. Without it, her vision might not have become reality. The support of her husband, family, and friends helped her navigate challenges and seize new opportunities.

Despite fierce competition, she remained determined. Her passion for African craftsmanship set her brand apart, turning challenges into opportunities. Every setback became a lesson, sharpening her ability to navigate the business world.
Giving Back and Building a Legacy
As her business grew, so did her commitment to her community. She launched training programs for underserved women and girls, equipping them with valuable skills in crafting and tailoring. These initiatives not only expanded her production capacity but also created sustainable income opportunities for women. Today, HM & S employs 20 artisans and professionals, while her training programs have transformed countless lives.

Turning Challenges into Milestones
Like many entrepreneurs, Hajiya Halima faced procurement complexities, intense competition, and financial risks. Some contracts yielded minimal profits, but these experiences sharpened her skills in negotiation and strategic planning. Visibility was another hurdle, but attending exhibitions and networking events helped HM & S gain credibility.
Today, her procurement expertise and strategic planning have resulted in major wins, including a contract with Plan International under the UN system. Since then, HM & S has:
